Kodama are green Sprites who can be collected by clearing the local area of aggro’d enemies then holding R1 to collect the Kodama as long as they aren’t hiding in their hats. You will then receive Kodama Merit which you can use at a Shrine to activate a Kodama Blessing increasing Elixir drop rate / efficacy so these little dudes are well worth sniffing out.
As you make your way through the Warring States certain areas will be locked off either behind Myths or Story Progression with the final area in the first Era, being in Southern Mikatagahara, Saigagake not being accessible until you’re right at the end of the Warring States.
The 50 Kodama in the Warring States will see you needing to go right from the very first area after you get to the shoreline with Honda Tadakatsu and right through to Saigagake, an area which holds the final boss of the Warring States and pretty much every in between.
You will need to complete nigh on every single Enemy Base, Myth, Main Mission, Sub Mission and get to the highest rocks are lowest basements with the only area Kodama aren’t found is inside a Crucible. Just make sure there are no active enemies in the local area otherwise the Kodama will hide in their hats until its safe for them to come out again.
