Enemy Bases are captured by defeating all of the enemies situated within the confines of the base which can be Yokai or Human in varying levels of difficulty. It’s a good idea to use a ranged weapon to pick off whichever low level enemies you can get a line of sight on before going in hard on the remaining enemies. Some bases will be very challenging to clear out so it would be prevalent to come back later when your gear is better or you’re more proficient at bringing your opponents down.
The final Base I have included is part of the Li’s Memento Myth which sees you needing to clear the Base then take out a powerful boss but as the Myth is locked out until you clear Ryotan Temple in Iinoya you will be more than well enough equipped to deal with the Warrior’s Ghost. You will also receive some decent rewards for clearing the Enemy Bases and I recommend doing them as soon as you can as in clearing the Bases you will increase your Exploration Level for that given district making the rest of the area easier to work through.

Go up the the hill from the Shrine then as soon as it opens up to your lift drop down the cliff continue right to the base. Snipe the Archers if you can and carefully make your way round taking care not to aggro the Samurai if you can help it. This guy can smack you back to the Shrine with ease and it’ll be easier if you don’t have mobs to deal with as well.

Make your way into the courtyard and take out the initial 10 enemies milling about either by sniping them or just go full on bar room brawl and shred them down. With the tenth enemy defeated the main Samurai will spawn who you need to then defeat which will drop the Bloody Iron Key you can use on the door at the back of the area to gain access to a Chest.

Tokaido Enemy Bases
There are 2 Enemy Bases for you to clear in the Tokaido region which are the:
Ikeda Ferry Enemy Base
Closest Shrine: Tokaido, Ikeda Ferry.
Enemies: Yokai (7).
Go to the fishing village in North East Tokaido and clear out the Yokai taking care to deal with the Yoki as a priority. Try and flank the smaller enemies or take them out with ranged attacks or use the inside of the huts for cover from aerial attacks. Don’t go near the waters edge until the area is clear as a large Dweller will spawn in so deal with it before it becomes a problem.

Cape Cavern Enemy Base
Closest Shrine: Tokaido, Cape Cavern.

Head through the caverns to the left of the Shrine then once in the Hamlet take out the Yokai, enter the building, look up at the rafters and snipe the Gaki. Mikatagahara Enemy Base
There is 1 Enemy Base in the Mikatagahara region which is the:
Stone Buddha Path Enemy Base

Enemies: Yokai (6).
This enemy base is also located in the Dark Realm which makes the enemies a lot more challenging than they ordinarily could or should be. Clear out any Soldiers who follow you in then focus on taking out the Yokai.
Stealth attacks won’t be very effective here given the proximity the Yokai have to each other so go for all out aggression, remembering to heal when needed. With the 5 Yokai down, go up to the ledge and get close to the rift to spawn a giant Axe-wielding Soldier who has some seriously nasty attacks which can 1 shot you so put him down quickly to remove the threat and claim the base.

Head through the forest and up into the base where you will need to deal with those annoying Goblins as well as a very strong Yamainu who, for me at least didn’t appear to be in a good mood. I haven’t fought a more aggressive version than this one and that includes the Crucible Wraith in the Maisaka Enemy Base. Overcome the enemies and clear the Enemy Base.

Iinoya Enemy Base
There is 1 Enemy Base for you to clear in the Iinoya region which is the:
Great Ginkgo Approach Enemy Base
Closest Shrine: Iinoya, Great Ginkgo Approach.
Enemies: Human (11).
Be careful going along the Mountain Path as there are several Skeleton Warriors and a Crucible Wasp. Kill them all then enter the base at the bottom of the hill. Take out the first few enemies in the lower level beng careful to not get mobbed by the Dogs or Soldiers then climb the stairs. On the upper level there are ranged attacks and a powerful spear wielding Samurai you need to deal with so head back down if you’re struggling where the Samurai will follow but the ranged attack won’t reach you. Kill all 11 Humans in the base to clear it out.

Head up the hill and get ready to fight 6 powerful Soldiers one of who will be up on the roof to your right so get rid of him to neutralise the ranged attacks. Try and snipe the Soldiers quickly as they run over to you and use anything you have to bring them all down and clear the base. Once the Base is clear you will then unlock the Juji Fortress (East) Shrine.

During the Li’s Memento Myth you will gain access to a small village allowing you to clear the final enemy base which is the:

She will ask you for a favour and give you the Mountain Temple Key which you can take to the doors above the Mikitagahara Junction Shrine and open the way through to the Base.
There are 4 Yokai in the base most of which are sleeping and won’t awaken until you get close so deal with them all which spawns a Ninja Yoki. Kill the Ninja Yoki to clear the enemy base but don’t rest on your laurels as the Aggreived Warrior Boss will spawn as you appreoach the temple so ensure you heal before you go exploring as that dude can smack!.
