Roadmap

In Riptide GP2 you will be racing around a series of circuits on a Hydrojet against other racers all of who are vying for first place. At first it may well feel a bit slow but after a few upgrades and better craft you will be flying round the tracks at breakneck speed. You earn cash and XP for every race finish with the amounts increasing the higher you place.

When you have enough XP you will level up receiving skill points you can use to unlock new Skills and tricks increasing your chances of getting that first place finish and you will need to place first on every Career event to earn the required 3 stars.

Once you have installed the game, play around a bit and learn how the Hydrojet handles and head through the first couple of Series where you can unlock the following achievements along the way using your winnings as needed although I do recommend fully upgrading the first Hydrojet (Stingray) you will have enough cash to buy a new one if you prefer the aesthetics:

With the above unlocked you can now push through the rest of Career ensuring you upgrade, buy new Hydrojets as needed and unlock Skills to help you earn those Freestyle Points. By the end of career you will have enough money and skill to unlock the following achievements:

MuggedMeOff Shop Level Up Your Desk Setup

Premium gamer mugs, dishwasher safe, free delivery.

Shop For Your Mug Now

If you’re on PlayStation then that will be it for you, with all of the above unlocked you will earn:

If you get any Elites in the lobby it feels like they have access to speed and abilities you won’t have but you will get there with perserverence. Made easier if you can have other people online to help your chances. Take 100 online wins to unlock Predator.

Riptide GP 2 Still Counts
PlayStation Gold Trophy

Still Counts
Win a race without the rider.

Bit of a tricky one this as you need to cross the finish line or win an event just after failing a stunt so you are off your Hydrojet. A good way to do this is in Elimination although it will take a bit of luck to do. Wait until later in the game when you have a much more powerful Hydrojet then go back to an early Elimination such as the Last Standing event in the Local Circuit Series.

Ensure you’re in first place as the timer counts down then when 2nd place is far enough behind and there’s around 1-3 seconds left of the timer, hit a jump ramp which is where the luck comes in to play and purposefully fail a stunt where you will come off your Hydrojet but as long as the timer reaches 0 before you respawn you will then have won the race without the rider unlocking Still Counts for your efforts.

By A Nose

By A Nose
Win an Online race event by less than a tenth of a second.

Steam exclusive.
Winning an event by less than an inch will be more luck than skill, especially in online modes. It’s damn near impossible to boost it but it will be made a lot easier if you use the slowest craft as it’s easier to judge distance and with a lower top speed you have more time to line yourselves up. It may well take many attempts to win by a tenth of a second which unlocks By A Nose. If you lose by a tenth of a second you will unlock So Close!.

So Close!

So Close!

Riptide GP 2 Destructive Tendencies
PlayStation Silver Trophy

Destructive Tendencies
Smash a bridge in the Factory Shift event.

The Factory Shift event can be found in the Beginner’s Luck Series and is the fourth event you can do. Breaking a bridge rquires you to smash your Hydrojet through any of the walkways above the track with the easiest being at the jump just after the water spouts. Take the jump slow to smash through the bridge, to fast and you’ll sail over the top of it. Take it nice and chill, smash the bridge to unlock Destructive Tendencies.
