Alteration Spells
The Alteration spells and their relevant skills are broken down into 2 main sections which are:
Unlocking them all will give you a significant advantage against some of the tougher enemies as well as make the whole experience a lot more manageable and enjoyable.
Cloud Step
Location: Black Wind Mountain, Black Wind Cave, Cave Interior.
A mobility spell that leaves behind a decoy while allowing for quick dispersion into mist and escape. Useful for evading attacks or luring enemies into a trap. Upon returning from the mist state, an Unveiling Strike can be unleashed to catch opponents off guard. Cloud Step is a great way to avoid enemies then punish them as you reappear from the mist. It is especially effective against bosses and tougher enemies as it has a high chance of staggering them which gives you the edge in combat and is a reward for taking down the Black Wind King boss. The 7 skills you can unlock and upgrade in Cloud Step are as follows:
- Gallop.
- Unlock: 1 Sparks.
- Ruse.
- Level 1: 1 Sparks.
- Level 2: 1 Sparks.
- Concealed Observation.
- Level 1: 1 Sparks.
- Level 2: 1 Sparks.
- Converging Clouds.
- Level 1: 1 Sparks.
- Level 2: 1 Sparks.
- Bait.
- Unlock: 1 Sparks.
- Thunder Skill.
- Unlock: 2 Sparks.
- Absolute Strike.
- Unlock: 2 Sparks.
Rock Solid
Location: Yellow Wind Ridge, Crouching Tiger Temple, Temple Entrance.
A defensive spell that transforms the caster into a rock. If the enemy strikes the rock up the transformation, they shall be Deflected, which grants a perfect chance to counterattack. Though the spell may seem simple, timing is crucial. Cast it too early or too late, and it won’t work. Beware, enemies who possess powerful moves may shatter the rock. Rock Solid is an incredibly useful spell as it negates any normal or heavy attack and is a reward for taking down the powerful Tiger Vanguard (King) boss. Boss impacts can take you out but for the most part it is one you should definitely be using in the later game and has the following 6 skills to unlock and upgrade:
