Roadmap
In Samurai: Ronin’s Path you assume the role of a Samurai out for revenge and he will carve through an Army of living and undead to get there in this top down, action slasher which can be brutal at times. The game as a whole plays very well, it’s smooth, controlled and only has the occasional glitch which for me seemed to be an inability to use my sword but that’s easily cured by an imminent death then on restart the game worked properly again.
There are several bosses to fight all but one of whom are accompanied by a good number of enemies which is more of a useful feature than a burden as slain enemies drop healing orbs giving you more time against the bosses.
From the start of the game work through the first few levels where you will be unlocking the following achievements:
Now that you have a few skill points ensure you unlock Counter Attacks and Executions to make their skills usable in game and make sure you do perform counter attacks and executions as you progress as you need 30 of each. In the fifth level, The Smell of Gunpowder, it’s a perfect opportunity to unlock:
Premium gamer mugs, dishwasher safe, free delivery.
Shop For Your Mug NowYou are then clear and free to work through the rest of the game where you will no doubt fall a few times which is handy as you need to repeat some encounters, especially against the Skeletons to help build your kill total to 300. As you push through to the end of the game and the credits, you will need to be unlocking the following achievements along the way:
Killing spree
Kill 300 enemies.
Killing 300 enemies won’t be challenging given the amount that come at you. If you never die, first off, congrats but you might need to go back in and kill a few more. If you take a few deaths which won’t be hard especially against the Skeletons you will kill 300 enemies near the end game unlocking Killing spree.
The destroyer
Destroy 50 objects.
As you progress through the game you will need to smash a few items to progress. Smashing items becomes a lot more important when you realise that damn near every smashed item heals you so get smashing especially during those boss fights. Smash 50 items of any type to unlock The destroyer.
First blood
Kill 50 enemies.
You will easily have killed 50 enemies by the end of the fourth level unlocking First blood.
Rampage
Kill 100 enemies.
You will easily have killed 100 enemies by the tenth level which then unlocks Rampage.
Puppet master
Make enemies kill each other.
Enemies do take friendly fire damage in Samurai: Ronin’s Path but only from projectiles so make sure you use the enemies as shields when the arrows and more importantly, the fireballs start going. In the 5th level, The Smell of Gunpowder you will be ambushed by a bloke chucking bombs down at you which will be marked with a small red cross.
Run through the crosses so enemies follow you where the explosion will harm them. You need to make sure the explosion kills at least one of the enemies which is a lot easier in the upcoming boss fight but it is very doable in the courtyard as well. Either way, make an enemy kill another enemy to unlock Puppet master.
Perfect timing
Perform 30 counter attacks.
Counter Attacks are incredibly useful as they will basically kill any standard opponent providing you can get the timing right but only from yellow attacks. If an is red then avoid it by dodging or moving out of the way, yellow attacks can be countered by pressing RB, however, you will need to by the Counterattacks skill which is the first skill on the middle skill tree to be able to perform counter attacks. The timing may well take you a few attempts to get down but once you master Counter attacks the game gets a lot easier. Perform 30 Counter Attacks to unlock Perfect timing.
Executioner
Perform 30 executions.
Executions are performed on Stunned enemies by pressing B and to Stun an enemy you need to get them close to death where they will start swaying back and forth. You do have a generous but not infinite amount of time to get to the Stunned enemy so don’t hang around as when they come around they will be just as deadly as they were before being Stunned.
You will need to unlock the Executions ability in the left skill and it will take 2 skill points as you need to firstly unlock Dash Attack before you can unlock Executions. Work on Executing as many enemies as you can and if you don’t get 30 by the end of the game go back into any chapter and keep Executing enemies until Executioner unlocks.
Path’s end
Finish the story.
There are 15 levels to complete in Samurai: Ronin’s Path, none of them are particularly simple, quite a few of them have bosses and the Don’t Stop is a particular stand out level for being aggravating but for the most part the levels are combat based. In between each level you will unlock a Skill Point so make sure you use the skill points strategically to help you through the game, for me I went Right skill tree, left skill tree then central skill tree but you do you. The 15 stages you need to complete are as follows:
- The Battle.
- Shadow Path.
- The Entertainment District.
- The Temple.
- The Smell Of Gunpowder.
- The Cemetery.
- The Village.
- The Castle.
- In The Rain.
- What Is This.
- Too Quiet In Here.
- Don’t Stop.
- On The Scent.
- Last Dance.
- The Final.
Once you take down Nobu in the The Final and his entourage, your vengeance will be complete and Path’s end will unlock along with the credits.
The Ronin’s path.
Finish the first level.
The first level, The Battle is where you need to learn the mechanics. Hold RB to block, press A to dodge and X to attack. Kill everyone in your way and fight through to the end which then unlocks The Ronin’s Path.
The butcher
Dismember 40 enemies.
You will dismember most enemies as you take them down so you will easily unlock The butcher on your way to unlocking Killing spree.
That’s the Samurai: Ronin’s Path achievement guide complete, I hope it helped you through the game.
