When you get to a Hot Spring you can hold R1 after entering the pool to strip down and rest for a few seconds which will give a small health refill as well as provide some respite from the difficulty the game presents.

You will also acquire 2 Yokai Teardrops for every Hot Spring you use which you can use as currency with Sudama Shops but all in all the Hot Springs are there more to invoke a sense of nostalgia from the first 2 NIOH games rather than have any practical use in game.

Hot Springs

The 26 Hot Springs you can find and use in NIOH 3 are found throughout the Eras in the game which makes them fairly unique as the rest of the collectibles of which there are literally hundreds are, for the most part, confined to the 3 main Eras. If you miss any of the Hot Springs in Antiquity or across the many iterations of the 1622 Edo Castle Era you will need to replay the missions which hold Hot Springs as the Eras themselves won’t be explorable. The 3 main Eras you can find Hot Springs in are as follows:

  1. 1572 CE Warring States Hot Springs.
  2. 1190 CE Heian Hot Springs.
  3. 1864 CE Bakumatsu Hot Springs.

In addition to the 3 main Eras, you also need to find Hot Springs through the following 2 Eras and their subsequent missions which are:

  1. 247 CE Antiquity Hot Spring.
  2. 1622 Final Battle of Edo Hot Spring.

1572 CE Warring States Hot Springs

The 1572 Warring States Era is the first Era in NIOH 3 and it holds 9 Hot Springs for you to use. The final 2 are found in Mikatagahara, however, you won’t be able to access them until you’re in the final 2 Warring States missions. Refer to the NIOH 3 1572 CE Warring States Hot Springs to see how to find and use all 9.

1190 CE Heian Hot Springs

The 1190 CE Heian Era is the second Era in NIOH 3 and it holds 8 Hot Springs for you to use. Refer to the NIOH 3 1190 CE Heian Hot Springs to see how to find and use all 8.

1864 CE Bakumatsu Hot Springs

The 1864 CE Bakumatsu Era is the third Era in NIOH 3 and it holds 7 Hot Springs for you to use. Refer to the NIOH 3 1864 CE Bakumatsu Hot Springs to see how to find and use all 7.

247 CE Antiquity Hot Spring

The 247 CE Antiquity Era is an Era which holds 2 missions rather than being an open World like the Warring States and Heian Eras so if you miss the Hot Spring in the Dark Roots mission you will need to re play the Dark Roots mission from the Battle Scroll to be able to get the Hot Spring next time around which is the:

  1. The Spirit Tree Shrine: Inner Hollow Hot Spring.

The Spirit Tree Shrine: Inner Hollow Hot Spring

Closest Shrine: Dark Roots, The Spirit Tree Shrine: Inner Hollow.
Rewards: 2 Yokai Teardrop.
Proceed through the Dark Roots main mission to the lower level where the Army of Sentry statues are and the first place in the mission you will find a Waira. Before entering the blood red water, look to your left to see the Hot Spring at the base of the Pillar to the left of the water. Ensure the local area is completely clear of enemy’s otherwise you won’t be able to use the Hot Spring.

1622 CE Final Battle Of Edo Hot Spring

The 1622 CE Final Battle of Edo Era is where NIOH 3’s main story will conclude and you will need to go through hell to get the game done as the A Sinister End won’t stop throwing things at you until you’re done. Along the way will be 1 Hot Spring for you to rest in allowing you to calm down from the intensity of the boss rush and the sheer overwhelming number of enemies trying to stop you getting to the final boss which is the:

  1. Edo Castle: Keep Watchtower Hot Spring.

Edo Castle: Keep Watchtower Hot Spring

Closest Shrine: A Sinister End, Edo Castle: Keep Watchtower Boddhisatva Statue.
Rewards: 2 Yokai Teardrop.
Rest at the Edo Castle: Keep Watchtower Boddhisatva Statue which is the penultimate rest point in the game then jump right over the gap and use your Guardian Spirits to safely get down the lower floor following the Spirit Veins. Once you’re in the basement you will be able to use the Hot Spring then use the Spirit Veins to get back up to the Boddhisatva Statue.

That’s the NIOH 3 Spa Lover trophy guide complete I hope it helped you bathe in every Hot Spring.
