Once you’re in the North of the Kyoto Imperial Palace region you can rest at the Imperial Palace Shrine and cross the path to the Crucible and this place is very tough to get through so ensure you have finished the majority of the Bakumatsu map and have maxed out the Jizo Merit Blessing as much as you can. You willl encounter every type of Yokai in this Crucible be it Nozuchi, Yambiko, Magatsu Warriors, Konaki-Jiji, Ippon-Datara as well as Soldiers with cannons, Wraiths and a very hazardous, easy to fall off path.
Follow the main path through staying right to avoid the gatling guns, kill the Soldiers watching out for the crouching Ninja with the Hand Cannon. Head into the cavern and snipe the 2 Jailers and the spinning Amrita crystals, stand at the edge of the path you take up and look left to see a flaming chariot that will ambush you so shoot that whilst staying up out of the way of the blast.
Take the Spirit Vein up and rest at the Boddhisatva Statue then take out the 2 Jailers before going into the next area which is a pain to get through. You have 2 cannon operators and a Magatsu Warrior. Snipe the cannon operator on the right then the one on the left paying attention to the cannon itself as this guy has some serious range. That will then free up most of the danger allowing you to get down there and kill the Warrior.
Open the doors and kill the Yasha in the next building, go through the passage and clear the room full of Wraiths pass more Amrita crystals, open the wooden door at the end of the path to create a shortcut back to the Boddhisatva Statue. Use the Spirit Vein to get up into the building and kill both the Ubume and Jailer before standing at the edge of the next section overlooking the gardens and take a minute to check your surroundings.

Shop For Your Mug NowAs you drop down there will be 2 Nozuchi, one of who will aggro immediately, on the bridge is a shrouded Nuppeppo, down to your right is a Konaki-Jiji and Gaki then up pass the small building which holds a Boddhisatva Statue is a Yagyo Warrior. I detail this as it’s easy to try and run from one Yokai only 2 meet another one so take them out one by one as best as you can.
Once you go through the doors at the end of the path you will either have 1 or 2 bosses to deal with, if you have completed the Peerless Katana Myth which then gives you the Mibu Temple Key, allowing you to enter the Mibu Temple and complete the Solitary Blade Sub Mission where you take down Okito Soji at the end. If you have killed Okita Soji, he won’t be in the boss arena, if you haven’t then you have back to back boss fights and it’s a nightmare to deal with.
Tokugawa Yoshinobu is the Crucible Guardian and this oversized kipper is a very hard hitting boss who has a lot of spacial awareness meaning he can be hard to hit so use AOE attacks and elemental Ninjitsu to have an increased chance of dealing damage. Stay away from Water elements instead favouring Lightning and Fire for maximum damage. Bring Tokugawa down and cleanse the Crucible to complete the Scion of the Gods mission and conclude your time in Bakumatsu.
