Lesser Crucibles are small, closed off sections of the map which sometimes lock out the main path through an area you need to progress the story of NIOH 3, however, most of the Lesser Crucibles are found off the beaten track.
Either way, the Lesser Crucibles will hold several waves of enemies and sometimes bosses which you need to defeat thus allowing you to then break the small Crucinite at the back of the Lesser Crucible cleansing the area of the darkness. You will receive certain rewards for doing so and the Lesser Crucibles, especially in the later Eras are a good way of testing your mettle to see if you’re ready for the next stage of the game.
Lesser Crucibles will, once clear, power up your Guardian Spirit as well as increase your Spirit Force plus you get to the keep the rewards and Soul Cor4es dropped by any defeated enemies so all in all, whilst Lesser Crucibles are challenging, the rewards far outweigh the risks.

1572 CE Warring States
In the 1572 Warring States Era there are 10 Lesser Crucibles to clear throughout 8 of the 11 Districts which make up the Warring States Era. 1190 CE Heian Lesser Crucibles

1864 CE Bakumatsu Lesser Crucibles

1622 CE-Final Battle Of Edo
During the Sinister End story mission where the NIOH 3 story comes to a close there will be plenty of Lesserr Crucible style battles to fight through most of which are part of the Death Veil “boss” which is where you ascend up to the final boss. None of these Lesser Crucibles count towards the Lesser Crucible Eradicor trophy but I wanted to add that bit of clarification to avoid any potential confusion.
