There are 43 Chijiko to be collected throughout NIOH 3 and I recommend using either a Ranged Weapon like a Bow or Matchlock or possibly even Ninjitsu to bring the animal down, it won’t matter where it lands as it will always teleport very close to you providing there are no enemies in the local area who have aggro’d. If there are enemies who spot you rest at a Shrine if the Ferret doesn’t appear then go back to the location and it should spawn back in.
One of the best parts about collecting the Chijiko other than the massive amount of Ninja and Samurai Locks you will get along the way is each of the Chijiko hold a Transformed Art for a given weapon type which you can unlock in the Weapon Skills menu. These abilities can dramatically increase the damage that weapon type can cause and the majority of them come with baked in elemental damage as well just to increase the amount of pain you can inflict on your enemies.
