Kodama are green Sprites who can be collected by clearing the local area of aggro’d enemies then holding R1 to collect the Kodama as long as they aren’t hiding in their hats. You will then receive Kodama Merit which you can use at a Shrine to activate a Kodama Blessing increasing Elixir drop rate / efficacy so these little dudes are well worth sniffing out.

As you make your way through the Bakumatsu Era certain areas will be locked off either behind Myths or Story Progression so keep playing through the game until you have access to every Region and I do recommend leaving the Kodama as your last collectible to ensure when you go for them you will have access where you need it.

You will need to complete nigh on every single Enemy Base, Myth, Main Mission, Sub Mission and get to the highest rocks are lowest basements with the only area Kodama aren’t found is inside a Crucible. Just make sure there are no active enemies in the local area otherwise the Kodama will hide in their hats until its safe for them to come out again.
