Here we will go over the NIOH 3 1864 CE Bakumatsu Lesser Crucibles which you need to clear in the third Era of NIOH 3 and with there being 7 of them found throughout 6 of the 10 regions you will have a fair amount to do to clear them all.

Lesser Crucibles are small, closed off sections of the map which sometimes lock out the main path through an area you need to progress the story of NIOH 3, however, most of the Lesser Crucibles are found off the beaten track.

Either way, the Lesser Crucibles will hold several waves of enemies and sometimes bosses which you need to defeat thus allowing you to then break the small Crucinite at the back of the Lesser Crucible cleansing the area of the darkness. You will receive certain rewards for doing so and the Lesser Crucibles, especially in the later Eras are a good way of testing your mettle to see if you’re ready for the next stage of the game.

Lesser Crucibles will, once clear, power up your Guardian Spirit as well as increase your Spirit Force plus you get to the keep the rewards and Soul Cores dropped by any defeated enemies so all in all, whilst Lesser Crucibles are challenging, the rewards far outweigh the risks.

Bakumatsu Lesser Crucibles

In the Bakumtasu Era the Lesser Crucibles shouldn’t cause you that many issues, there are a small handful with some tougher enemies but all in all it’s more of the same of what you have already done as you are making your way through NIOH 3. Seeing as you’re in Bakumatsu, you clearly know how to play NIOH 3 so do what you do best and carve through the enemies. All of the Lesser Crucibles in the Bakumatsu Era are found throughout the following 6 reigons:

  1. Shichijo.
  2. Sanjo.
  3. Gion.
  4. Nijo Castle.
  5. Shirakawa.
  6. Kiyomizu.

Shichijo

There is 1 Lesser Crucible in the Shijicho region which is the:

  1. Nishi Honganji Temple Lesser Crucible.

Closest Shrine: Shichijo, Nishi Honganji Temple.
Rewards: Maximum Spirit Force increased by 1, Strengthened Guardian Spirit.
Go West form the Nishi Honganji Temple Shrine, carve your way through the Soldiers and drop down into the Lesser Crucible

  1. Wave 1: x1 Ubume, x1 Aberrant Soldier.
  2. Wave 2: x1 Ippon-Datara, x1 Skeleton Soldier, x1 Aberrant Soldier.
  3. Wave 3: x1 One-Eyed Oni, x1 One-Eyed Imp.
 

With all 3 waves of enemies defeated, break the Crucible Spike at the back of the Lesser Crucible to cleanse it.

Sanjo

There is 1 Lesser Crucible in the Sanjo region which is the:

  1. Sanjo Bridge Lesser Crucible.

Closest Shrine: Shirakawa, Sanjo Bridge.
Rewards: Maximum Spirit Force increased by 1, Strengthened Guardian Spirit.
Head West then South from the Sanjo Bridge Shrine in the Shirakawa region and down to the Lesser Crucible which holds some tough Yokai but it shouldn’t be anything you can’t handle by this point.

  1. Wave 1: x1 One-Eyed Oni.
  2. Wave 2: x1 Jailer, x1 Adult Jailer.
  3. Wave 3: x1 Ippon-Datara, x1 Konaki-Jiji.
 

With all 3 waves of enemies defeated, break the Crucible Spike at the back of the Lesser Crucible to cleanse it.

Gion

There is 1 Lesser Crucible in the Gion region which is the:

  1. Shrine Walk Greatwood Lesser Crucible.

Closest Shrine: Gion, Shrine Walk Greatwood.
Rewards: Maximum Spirit Force increased by 1, Strengthened Guardian Spirit.
The Lesser Crucible in the Gion region is a very tough one as you multiple ranged attacks to deal with as well as a Ninja Yoki who one hands a Hand Cannon and fires it very frequently compared to other enemies in the game.

  1. Wave 1: x2 Skeleton Soldiers (1 up high either side), x1 Nuppepp.
  2. Wave 2: x1 Ninja Yoki (Fast firing Hand Cannon, use the rocks for cover and ranged Niinjitsu), x1 One-Eyed Oni.
  3. Wave 3: x1 Raiju.
 

With all 3 waves of enemies defeated, break the Crucible Spike at the back of the Lesser Crucible to cleanse it.

Nijo Castle

There are 2 Lesser Crucibles in the Nijo Castle region which are the:

  1. Horikawa Market Lesser Crucible.
  2. Nijo Castle Ruins Lake Lesser Crucible.

Horikawa Market Lesser Crucible

Closest Shrine: Nijo Castle, Horikawa Market.
Rewards: Maximum Spirit Force increased by 1, Strengthened Guardian Spirit.
Go West from the Horikawa Market Shrine and into the Lesser Crucible which is an important one to clear as it holds the path to the Mibu region.

  1. Wave 1: x1 Adult Bakegani, x1 Bakegani
  2. Wave 2: x1 Karasu Tengu.
  3. Wave 3: x1 Itsumade.
 

With all 3 waves of enemies defeated, break the Crucible Spike at the back of the Lesser Crucible to cleanse it.

Nijo Castle Ruins Lake Lesser Crucible

Closest Shrine: Nijo Castle, Nijo Castle Ruins Lake.
Rewards: Maximum Spirit Force increased by 1, Strengthened Guardian Spirit.
Go North into the Lesser Crucible from the Nijo Castle Ruins Lake Shrine and be prepared for some tough Yokai as well as the Crucible Spikes which come out of the ground when you get close so come back later if the challenge is to much.

  1. Wave 1: x2 Skeleton Soldiers.
  2. Wave 2: x2 Ippon-Datara.
  3. Wave 3: x1 Great Gaki plus accompanying Gaki.
  4. Wave 4: x1 Mikoshi Nyudo.
 

With all 4 waves of enemies defeated, break the Crucible Spike at the back of the Lesser Crucible to cleanse it.

Shirakawa

There is 1 Lesser Crucible in the Shirakawa region which is the:

  1. Yoshidayama Approach Lesser Crucible.

Closest Shrine: Shirakawa, Yoshidayama Approach.
Rewards: Maximum Spirit Force increased by 1, Strengthened Guardian Spirit.
Make your way South East from the Yoshidayama Approach Shrine and into the Lesser Crucible which has more Crucible Spikes on the ground so be wary of them as you work on taking down the Yokai.

  1. Wave 1: x2 Yambiko.
  2. Wave 2: x1 Konaki-Jiji
  3. Wave 3: x1 Nuppeppo, x1 Jailer.
 

With all 3 waves of enemies defeated, break the Crucible Spike at the back of the Lesser Crucible to cleanse it.

  1. Dilapidated Temple Lesser Crucible.
