Named Shrines are exactly that, Shrines which have individual names related to their locations rather than just saying “Shrine” it needs to say Hojo Shrine for example and there are a lot to find. Boddhisatva Statues are found in the Crucibles usually guarded by tough Yokai who need defeating before you can activate the Statue.

Fortunately, the Sub Missions won’t have named Shrines or Statues, they are exclusively just called “Shrine” even if its a named Shrine in the open World. There are 11 regions in the Warring States and all of them hold Shrines plus with there also being 2 Crucibles there are a lot of Shrines and Statues to find. There are, in total, 59 Shrines and 7 Boddhisatva Statues to find and activate throughout the Warring States so you will have a fair amount of exploring to do if you want them all.

I have broken the Warring States down into its respective regions as you will come to them through Story progression. Once you have cleared the Hamamatsu Crucible in the Crucible Manifested Story mission, the rest of the Warring States map will open. Before you can access all of the Shrines you will need to advance the story to where Saigagake, a closed off area in Mikatagahara becomes available for you to enter which is right at the end of the Warring States story, as such I have left the Mikatagahara region until last on the last.

Shrines And Statues

The Shrines and Statues are found in the following 14 regions and missions which are:

After defeating Hino-Enma you can the go up the right path across the giant crystals to the Sudama family if you’re in the Abundant Evil Myth but either way, this Shrine will be at the end of the path.

There are 4 Shrines in the lake Sanaru region and all them are readily accessible providing you clear the enemies in the local area first and they are as follows:

  3. Usugiri Marshland.
The Usugiri Marshland Shrine is in the Eastern side of the Maisaka region and it can lead up through to the Hamamatsu region if coming from the South.
  4. Otsuri Bridge.
The Otsuri Bridge Shrine is in the North of Lake Sanaru and if you go West you will be in the Lake Hamana region whereas crossing the bridge will bring you to Southern Mikatagahara.

Hamamatsu Hill

Hamamatsu Hill is a region in the centre of the Warring States which stretches up to the North and it holds just 2 Shrines which are:

  1. Mikatagahara Junction.
Mikatagahara Junction is a Shrine in the West of the Hamamatsu Hill region and one which leads up to a large enemy encampment as well as being the starting point for an Enemy Base which won’t become available until later in the Warring States when the Li’s Memento Myth is available.
  2. Juji Fortress (North).
The Juji Fortress (North) Shrine is at the Northern of Hamamatsu Hill and is a good Shrine to rest at where you can then go South and take on the Blood-Spurting Ogin boss. Stay right of the cylinder as you go through the camp to avoid aggroing the boss initially.

Lake Hamana

Lake Hamana is found in the far West of the Warring States and is a dangerous area as once you enter the region you will begin the Disaster at Lake Hamana Myth so use the rocks for cover which Daidarra-Bocchi’s energy blast will destroy allowing you to get up and through to Horie’s Castle. There are 2 Shrines which are available to use in the Lake Hamana region which are:

  1. Horie Castle-Outwork.
You can access the Hori Castle-Outwork Shrine once Daidarra-Bocchi has smashed the rocks allowing you to get up to relative safety having now gotten yourself off the beach. Iionoya

Iinoya is a dangerous region in the North of the Warring States and it holds auto spawning Revenants as well as some hardcore Myths which unlock Masters and other Sub Missions. The Demon of Pride can also be found in Iinoya but you don’t want anything to do with that boss until you’re at least near the end of the Heian Era. The 8 Shrines you need to unlock as you work through the Iinoya region are as follows:

  1. Iinoya Pass.
The Iinoya Pass Shrine is in the South of Iinoya as you enter from the Hamamatsu Hill region on the main path.
  2. Great Ginkgo Approach.
Head down the right path from the Iinoya Pass Shrine then go straight up the hill to come to the Great Ginkgo Approach Shrine behind the Adult Dweller.
  3. Omomiji Junction.
The Omomiji Junction Shrine is in the North of Iinoya and is where you can begin the Those Who Live in the Shadows Myth with Fuma Kotaro.
  4. Temple Ruins-Cemetery.
The Temple Ruins-Cemetery Shrine is accessible by going down through the South East of Iinoya as part of the Those Who Live in the Shadows Myth and is where you can also cleanse a Lesser Crucible.
  5. Ryotan Temple-Main Gate.
The Ryotan Temple biome is located in the North West pf the Iinoya region and when you get close to it you will begin the Fated Land Myth with Li Naotora.
  6. Ryotan Temple-Living Quarters.
The Ryotan Temple-Living Quarters Shrine will be on the main path as you go through the area and just after it will be a Magatsu Warrior and Ninja Yoki.
  7. Ryotan Temple-Mausoleum.
I strongly recommend resting at the Ryotan Temple-Mausoleum Shrine which is just off to the right of the steps you climb to get to the arena where the Ryomen Sukuna boss can be fought which then concludes the Fated Land Myth providing you win of course.
  8. Sengan Waterfall.
The Sengan Waterfall is in the far South East corner of the Iinoya region and you won’t need to go there for a long time yet, at least until you are near or at the end of the Heian Era as the only use for the Shrine for now is being somewhere the Demon of Pride will happily slap and drown you back to. It is also a Shrine you want to have available in the Old Medicine, New Problems Myth in the Bakumatsu Era.

Futamata Road

Futamata Road is a region in the Centre of the Warring States and you will more than likely enter it from the Hamamatsu Hill region and it is a tough region to get through. There are 4 Shrines for you to rest at which are as follows:

  1. Silver Grass Meadow.
Silver Grass Meadow is a very important Shrine in the South of the Futamata Road region as it not only holds the Naito Masatoyo boss it also leads the way up through the Futamata region where you can begin the Searching For A Spy Myth with Hattori Hanzo.
  2. Juji Fortress (East).
The Juji Fortress (East) Shrine is initially locked behind an Enemy Base in the West of the Futamata Road region so clear the Base to unlock this Shrine.
  3. Firefly Forest.
Firefly Forest is a necessary Shrine if you want to clear the Lesser Crucible in the North of the Futamata Road region as there are several powerful Yokai on the path you can take by going directly North out of Silver Grass Meadow.
  4. Cavern of Respite.
The Cavern of Respite Shrine is North East of the Lesser Crucible in the North of the Futamata Road region and leads the way through to the West of the Futamata region.

Futamata

Futamata is a challenging area in the North East of the Warring States and is where the Mirage Fortress Story Mission will happen. You can enter the Futamata region either from the South coming through from the Silver Grass Meadow or West if you are going in from the Cavern of Respite Shrines, both of which are in the Futamata Road region. There are 7 Shrines to unlock in the Futamata region which are as follows:

  1. Tealeaf Village.
The Tealeaf Village Shrine is in the South of the Futamata region and where you can begin the Searching For A Spy Myth.
  2. Abandoned Bamboo Grove Shrine.
The Abandoned Bamboo Grove Shrine can either be used directly after the Searching For A Spy Myth or by going South from the Dark Realm in Futamata.
  3. Futamata Castle-Town.
The Futamata Castle-Town Shrine is locked behind a Dark Realm in the centre of the Futamata region and is a Shrine you will pass as you cross the bridge whilst heading towards the start of the Mirage Fortress Story Mission. Clear the Dark Realm to make this Shrine usable.
  4. Futamata Castle-Riverside.
Once you have started the Mirage Fortress Story Mission, cross the wooden bridge then rest at this Shrine. Side note, shoot the lookouts to prevent the bullet salvo being fired at you as you progress through.
  5. Futamata Castle-Storehouse.
Fight your way through the Castle grounds where you will find the Futamata Castle-Storehouse Shrine on the main path. You can head down the hill after killing the Yoki who sends the stone balls and the Ninja Yoki at the top of the path to open the gate creating a very handy shortcut back to this Shrine.
  6. Futamata Castle-Koguchi Junction.
After you have defeated the Anayama Nobutada boss in the Mirage Fortress Story Mission, enter the building taking care of the 2 Ninja who aggro then go up the stairs and over to your left to find the Futamata Castle-Koguchi Junction Shrine.
  7. Futamata Castle-Defensive Gate.
The Futamata Castle-Defensive Gate Shrine is one you might get sent back to several times and it is found against the back wall before entering the courtyard with the Yagyo Soldier. Baba Nobuhara is a very powerful, hard to beat boss in the Mirage Fortress Story Mission and there is also a Hot Spring found back down the hill through an illusionary wall if you’re in the need for a wash.

A Fiery Invasion

The A Fiery Invasion Story Mission is a very rough time of things as you need to fight your way through a heavily fortified Army base filled with Yokai and Soldiers then engage and defeat Yamagata Masakage who is in full Yokai form. Once he’s defeated you can then enter the Crucible which is what this section will focus on, the other Shrines that can be found in Mikatagahara are all listed in the Mikatagahara Shrines section. There are 3 Boddhisatva Statues you can and will more than likely need to rest at in the A Fiery Invasion Crucible which are the:

  1. Mikatagahara-Takeda Camp.
The Mikatagahara-Takeda Camp Statue is found just after the Crucible begins and as a quick note, if you kill the Yokai who create the Black Flame you will then dispel it which is very useful as 1 touch will equal a death.
  2. Mikatagahara-Hoda Slope.
The Mikatagahara-Hoda Slope Statue can be found after you get pass the Chariots and the Skeleton Warrior and it will have Honda Tadakatsu standing nearby so make sure you activate the Statue rather than just running pass it.
  3. Mikatagahra-Nearaimatsu.
This Statue can be found just to the left of the bridge you can cross to fight the Takeda Shingen boss. If you drop down to your right before hand you can fight the optional Kosaka Masonubu boss as well.

Mikatagahara

Mikatagahara is a complex region initially accessible in the North West of the Warring States, however, it unlocks heavily as you work through the Warring States Story unlocking extra areas such as Takeda’s Camp and Saigagake hence why I have left it for last on the list. There are several Shrines which become available during the final 2 Warring States Story Missions which are of course the A Fiery Invasion and Tigers Cause Story Missions. There are 6 Shrines in the Mikatagahara region and the 3 Boddhisatva Statues in the A Fiery Invasion section making 9 in total.

  1. Stone Buddha Path.
The Stone Buddha Path Shrine will initially be the only Shrine accessible in the Mikatagahara region and will be passed as you make your way from Lake Sanaru through to the Hamamatsu Hill region. There is an Enemy Base South West of the Shrine as well as a Chijiko and a Kodama to the East near the border with Hamamatsu Hill.
  2. Mikatagahara-Tokugawa Camp.
The Mikatagahara-Tokugawa Camp is the first Shrine in the A Fiery Invasion Story Mission where you can speak to Hattori Hanzo if you’re in the mood to.
  3. Mikatagahara-Kikyo Bellflower Fortress.
This is a Shrine which is on the main path before you get to the One-Eyed Oni who was throwing rocks down at you and heading up and through to the gate where the Yamagata Masakage boss can be fought. There is a ladder opposite the the boss gate you can kick down which creates a shortcut back to the Shrine which you may well need several times.
  4. Saigagake-Bridge.
You will find the Saigagake-Bridge Shrine on the main path just after entering the Saigagake biome, just to the left of the Shrine on a lower ledge will be a Kodama.
  5. Saigagake-Main Hall.
Proceed through Saigagake to where you climb the broken beams with the 3 patrolling Ninja. Follow the path then drop down to be on the same platform as the Shrine, there is a Kodama on the beam behind you and another Kodama on the small roof just off to the left.
  6. Saigagake-Rear Approach.
Once you’re done in the tunnel with the Magatsu Warrior head up to the Saigagake-Rear Approach Shrine which is the final Shrine in the Warring States and one you may well be sent back any number of times as you attempt to kill the Takeda Shingen boss. This is also where you can get the final item required in the Depicting the Tiger of Kai Myth.

That’s how to find and activate all of the NIOH 3 1572 CE Warring States Shrines And Statues, which one(s) did you need help finding?.
