NIOH 3 1572 CE Warring States Scampuss
Here we will go over how you can find and track the NIOH 3 1572 CE Warring States Scampuss of which there are 8 in total for you to chase down in the first Era of NIOH 3.

Scampuss are small, Yokai Cats who, once you get close and try to pet will be startled and run away, it’s down to you to give chase and track the Scampuss down which is a lot easier after you acquire the Gale Sprint once you clear the Crucible Manifested story mission.
If you lose sight of the Scampuss you’ll have a few seconds to reacquire it, if not then rest at a Shrine which then resets the Scampuss and you can try again and make no mistake, some of these things can be hard to keep up with especially when it comes to rockier areas as one slip can see you needing to start again.
Rewards wise you will receive either a Ninja’s Locks, a Samurai’s Locks but as well you will always receive a Scampuss Furball which you can take to the Giant Scampuss in the Eternal Rift for extra rewards and on rare occasions the Scampuss have a chance of dropping their Soul Core as well. So all in all they’re well worth chasing down.
Warring States Scampuss
The 8 Scampuss in the Warring States you need to chase down can be found at the following locations in their respective districts which are as follows:

Tenryu River is a level 6 District in the East of the Warring States Era and one which holds the following Scampuss:
Prospect Hill Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Tenryu River, Prospect Hill.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Go South East from the Prospect Hill Shrine to find the Scampuss, try and pet it then give chase as it rolls away. Jump over the fallen trees, head through the crawl space and tunnel towards the coastline watching out for the Gaki then climb the rocks to be able to pet the Scampuss.

Tokaido
Tokaido is a level 8 District in the South Eastern side of the Warring States Era and one which holds the following 2 Scampuss:
Tokaido Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Tokaido, Tokaido.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
This Scampuss will be slightly West of the Tokaido Shrine on the main path so go up to it then give chase through the forest and over the buildings and rocks. The Scampuss will come to a halt on the final building so make sure you don’t overshoot the run as by the time you get back up there, the timing will have reset.

Forest Of Souls Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Tokaido, Forest of Souls.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
The Scampuss in the Forest of Souls can be found just to the South of the Shrine and this one is a pain to catch as you need to sprint after it through the clearing then at the end it will jump up onto the rocks which you need to go around the back of to be able to mantle up. You will need to be quick so continue forward along the main path, take a left then left up the rocks where you will then see the Scampuss sitting there.

Hamamatsu
Hamamatsu is a level 10 District in the South of the Warring States Era and one which holds the following Scampuss:
Hamamatsu Castle-Otemon Gate Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Hamamatsu, Hamamatsu Castle-Otemon Gate .
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Go South from the Hamamatsu Castle-Otemon Gate Shrine then climb the ramp and look to the left corner of the junction to find this Scampuss who will run along a fairly linear path you should be able to follow quite easily. The Scampuss will essentially run towards the entrance to Castle Town then go over to the right to a chest where you can then Pet the Scampuss.

Lake Sanaru
Lake Sanaru is a level 19 District in the Western side of the Warring States Era and one which holds the following Scampuss:
Lake Sanaru-Waterside Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Lake Sanaru, Lake Sanaru-Waterside.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Before you can access the Scampuss in Lake Sanaru you firstly need to clear the Lesser Crucible in the South West corner which opens up more of the map. Head through to find the Scampuss sitting on the main path who you will need to chase near the top of the temple traversing Spirit Veins and being careful to not fall down through the gaps. Once you have done the 3 Spirit Vein runs, jump over to the left where the Scampuss will be waiting for you.

Mikatagahara
Mikitagahara is a level 20 District in the North West of the Warring States Era which holds the following Scampuss:
Otsuri Bridge Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Mikatagahara, Otsuri Bridge (Lake Sanaru).
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Cross the Otsuri Bridge then sprint through to the stair case either taking out the Yamabiko and Nozuchi or run through them. Stay right to avoid the Crucible Wasps or just take them out if they aggro then once you’re at the Scampuss follow it to the tree trunks and carefully sprint across the gaps. Once you’re at the clearing in front of the Six Jizo Statue you will be ambushed by 3 Gaki, 2 normal and 1 Mother so join the Scampuss in the fight and put them down where you can then pet the Scampuss.

Lake Hamana
Lake Hamana is a level 25 District in the Western side of the Warring States Era and one which holds the following Scampuss:
Horie Castle-Outwork Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Lake Hamana, Horie Castle-Outwork.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Ensure you have cleared the Disaster at Lake Hamana Myth before you even attempt to go after this Scampuss who will be back up near the entrance of Lake Hamana. Try and pet it then chase the Yokai along the coast which will be a lot harder than normal as this Scampuss all but disappears aside from leaving a small white trail behind the small ball it has transformed into so keeping the Scampuss on screen is essential. Chase the Scampuss to the top of the rocks where you can then pet it properly.

Iinoya
Iinoya is a level 28 District in the Northern side of the Warring States Era and one which holds the following Scampuss:
Iinoya Pass Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Iinoya, Iinoya Pass.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Head down the hill from the Iinoya Pass Shrine pass the Yamabiko and Skeleton Warrior whilst watching out for the Shunobon throwing rocks at you from above. Take an immediate left and mantle up the rocks to the Spirit Vein where you will see the Scampuss. Follow it down then back up being careful to not fall down as 1 mistake on this course will see you needing to restart. Make it to the end of the course to pet what will hopefully be the final Scampuss for you in the Warring States.
