Scampuss are small, Yokai Cats who, once you get close and try to pet will be startled and run away, it’s down to you to give chase and track the Scampuss down and if you lose sight of the Scampuss you’ll have a few seconds to reacquire it, if not then rest at a Shrine which then resets the Scampuss and you can try again and make no mistake, some of these things can be hard to keep up with especially when it comes to rockier areas as one slip can see you needing to start again.
Rewards wise you will receive either a Ninja’s Locks, a Samurai’s Locks but as well you will always receive a Scampuss Furball which you can take to the Giant Scampuss in the Eternal Rift for extra rewards and on rare occasions the Scampuss have a chance of dropping their Soul Core as well. So all in all they’re well worth chasing down.
Heian Scampuss
The 3 Scampuss in the Heian Era you need to chase down can be found at the following locations in their respective districts which are as follows:
Nishiichi
There is 1 Scampuss to chase down in the Nishiichi district which is the
Premium gamer mugs, dishwasher safe, free delivery.
Shop For Your Mug NowHoriike of Arasiyama Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Nishiichi, Horiike of Arashiyama.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Head South East from the Horiike of Arashiyama Shrine in the Sagano filed to where the Mermaids are fighting the Soldiers. Take them all out then jump left to the building before mantling up the rocks to the right of the building where you will find the Scampuss on the roof. Carefully sprint after the Scampuss ensuring you don’t fall into the water and be mindful of the Crucible Spike you need to run through to the small island where you can pet the Scampuss.

Hachijo
There is 1 Scampuss to chase down in the Hachijo district which is the
Filthy Flooded Street Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Hachijo, Filthy Flooded Street.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Go around behind the wall and take a right killing the Soldiers if they aggro then interact with the Scampuss on the roof who will take a short run off the roof then jump up the narrow ice ledges.

Rokuhara
There is 1 Scampuss to chase down in the Rokuhara district which is the
Gion Grove Scampuss
Closest Shrine: Rokuhara, Gion Grove.
Rewards: Scampuss Furball.
Drop down to your left from the Gion Grove Shrine which is accessible once you have cleared the Lesser Crucible then try to pet the Scampuss at the base of the small cliff. The Scampuss is a timid Scampuss so you need to crouch then move through the long grass coming out when you’re close the Scampuss as it runs up the hill. Sneak up on the Scampuss 3 times to be able to Pet and subsequently collect it.
